About the Paintings
The collection is comprised of 80 gouache and watercolor paintings from the artist, Laszlo Matulay. All paintings are 30×22; most are in great condition as they have been framed in a climate controlled residence for close to 40 years. Most paintings were created between 1985-1993.
About the Collector
This collection was the possession of Dr. Eileen Kowler, Professor and Researcher at Rutgers University. Eileen was very close to Laszlo, as he was the husband of Eileen’s ex-husband’s first cousin, Harriet. Both Eileen and her ex-husband, Robert, actively supported Laszlo (who they referred to as “Lotzie“) by purchasing his paintings and hosting exhibits at her home in New Jersey.
About Us
Sadly, Eileen passed away in December of 2024. It was her wish that the paintings be shared so others may also enjoy his work. We, her children, are looking for homes for each of these paintings. If you are an individual collector or institution interested in one or more of Matulay’s paintings, please contact us.
